Methods to Advance Processes and Performance in Science
The study of the science of Team Science and its relevance to organizations and the world today.
Welcome to TeamMAPPS
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the TeamMAPPS (Team Methods to Advance Processes and Performance in Science) training program. TeamMAPPS is a behavioral skills training program specifically developed to increase the collaboration and effectiveness of scientific teams and scientific team members. This program has been developed specifically for scientists and students to develop behavioral skills by learning mastery steps through Team Science cases and exercises, self-assessments, reflective exercises, and back-home application planning.
While TeamMAPPS is available to be delivered in a variety of different modalities, we hope that you engage all modules. We ask that you kindly consent to allowing us to collect data on your learning progress, as well as your insights on how to improve this program. All scientific fields are rapidly changing, and we all know that collaboration is at the very heart of increased innovation, inclusion, and effectiveness. We hope TeamMAPPS will help you in your career journey.
Sincerely,
Kevin C. Wooten, Ph.D.

How to identify components of Psychological Safety, Adaptation & Correction, and Facilitating Awareness & Exchange domains.
-
Theoretical and evidence-based backgrounds for each domain.
-
Steps, stages, and practical tools for implementing each domain's competencies.
-
Experiential exercises and vignettes to practice diagnosing & resolving issues, and mapping to plans for your current team.
Scope of TeamMAPPS
TeamMAPPS involves a specific set of known behaviors that are evidence-based and known to influence effective team processes and performance. It can be:
-
Used for development or developmental evaluation
-
Applied to nascent or to advanced scientific teams
-
Used as a training model or a team diagnostic and intervention
It is not exhaustive, as there are many potential "drivers" of scientific team success. While it does not address specific areas such as team leadership and team structure, it does address foundational behavioral skills that are used in leadership, facilitate overall team processes, as well as establish and reinforce team structure.
